Get On Your Bike and Ride
I always thought touring by bike would be such a fun way to explore a destination. Talk about slow travel… touring by bike really does make you slow down and enjoy the scenery, and all of the experiences along the way.
And it seems I’m not alone. More and more companies are offering bike tours – here’s an overview of some available this summer.
Trek Travel is offering several luxury cycling vacations, including Trip 7 of the Tour de France – will you wear the yellow jersey? Families can ride together in the Canadian Rockies, Vermont, Oregon, or the San Juan Islands. Or, set your sites on the castles and walled cities in Croatia and the Dalmation Coast, or Prague to Vienna.
VBT Bicycling and Walking Vacations is offering savings of up to $300 (promo code MAGZ107, through April 25, 2014) off 39 cycling and walking vacations throughout the year. Planning a trip to Italy? Why not consider these 10-day trips: Lake Garda to Venice: Cycling Italy’s Veneto, TuscanyBy the Sea, or Sicily: Biking the Southern Coastal Villages? And these are just three of the 39 vacations – visit VBT.com for more options!
If you’re Colorado-bound, there are loads of options there, too. The best of both worlds combine on Beer & Bike Tours in Fort Collins, Boulder, Denver, Rocky Mountain National Park and beyond. Or, go ag and take an electric bike ride through the local farm culture outside Boulder. On September 20, 2014, wine comes into the mix on the 25-mile bike ride through Colorado Wine Country during the 21st Annual Tour de Vineyards.
Go ahead – get on your bike and ride!
